Introduction

Chaotic dynamical systems are characterized by sensitive dependence on initial conditions, phase transitivity, and dense distribution of periodic orbits. In information-theoretical point of view, chaotic dynamical systems are those systems in which information is lost along orbits. Exploiting these properties, they have proposed various kinds of chaotic cryptosystems in this decade. The theoretical results on dynamical systems have been developed for more than a century, and we can evaluate security and design standard using these results.

Cryptosystems based on chaos synchronization have been studied intensively, but FS-CES (Finite State - Chaotic Encryption System) is based on direct method instead of chaos synchronization [5,6,7,8]. In direct method, we obtain a ciphertext by directly applying a chaotic map to a plaintext. The plaintext is obtained from the ciphertext by the inverse transform.
